Aphids are light green, soft-bodied, pear-shaped insects that are usually wingless and measure about 1/16” at maturity. They prefer bluegrass and damage can normally be seen from mid-summer to fall.
Damage
Aphids damage plants by injecting their toxic saliva into the plant when they pierce the plant to feed on plant juices. The leaf tissue then turns from yellow to orange. Damage is under trees, but can also occur in open areas.
