The fungus Rhizoctonia solani causes this disease. It affects Zoysia and can occur in spring and fall months.
Signs and Symptoms
Two to twenty-four inch patches, usually with orangish-brown leaf lesions that give the outer ring of the “patch” an orange appearance. The lower portion of the leaf sheath then rots.
Favorable Conditions:
Extended periods of leaf wetness coming out of or going into dormancy contributes to this disease.
Cultural Prevention and Control
Avoid excessive watering in the late fall and early spring to reduce disease occurrence.
