Missouri is truly the Show Me State – and this fall, Missouri is showing all of us some pretty cool events that are family- and fun-focused!
Here is a list of some events that we at Ryan Lawn & Tree think will be especially awesome!
It’s hard not to think of cider when you think of great fall events – so let’s not try. Our list begins with the Annual Cider Days event in Springfield, Missouri. Held on the weekend of September 16-17, this event hosts thousands of cider lovers who partake of the goodies at this event on Historic Walnut Street. Music, artisans, crafters, and live entertainment accompany many other family fun events. And the best part? Cider galore!
Also held on the weekend of September 16-17, the Wilder Days Festival focuses on the life and times of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The town square of Mansfield is transformed into an old town city and is filled with live music, great food, crafts, dancing, and children’s games. There is also a parade, a 5K run, a quilt show, and the 27th annual Laura Memories outdoor play. A couple of us at Ryan Lawn & Tree think it’s pretty cool that you get to tour the actual home where the books were written!
If artisans and homemade crafts are your thing, this festival is for you! But don’t leave the kids at home – there are carnival rides, family-fun activities, games for the kids, a famous pet parade, and pony rides for kids of all ages. And come hungry – a bevy of food trucks and vendor booths sell delicious local fare and drinks that the whole family will enjoy. Put September 27-30 on your calendar for this one.
This is another classic arts and crafts show that has been an annual tradition for folks for more than 40 years. In addition to over 250 vendors who sell homemade wares, original artwork, and crafts of all varieties, the festival features some of the finest musicians in the area providing live music and entertainment for the thousands of people who attend each year.
Who doesn’t love apple butter? We’ve been known to polish off a jar or two ourselves here at Ryan Lawn & Tree! This festival focuses on the art of apple butter making. Join at least 40,000 other apple butter aficionados as apple butter is made inside copper kettles over open fires! Live music, contests, competitions, and games are all part of the fun. And of course, leave with a jar or ten of delicious, homemade apple butter!
Fall would not be complete without a pumpkin festival. This epic event combines pumpkins with a Halloween fair, as visitors are invited to come in costume for a daily competition. The event includes a pumpkin carving competition for adults and kids, a giant pumpkin contest, a pumpkin pie baking contest, a candy crawl, a witch hunt, and story time for the kids. Mark October 28th on your calendar for this one.
Join the staff at Ryan Lawn & Tree this fall as we travel throughout the great state of Missouri and enjoy some of these fun-filled fall activities!
