Family-Friendly June & Independence Day Events in the Tulsa Area

Tulsa is a great place to be anytime of year – but the summer offers Tulsa residents and visitors an array of family-friendly events that promise to keep adults and kids smiling all summer long. Here are some activities near Bixby, Owasso, OK and the Tulsa metro that we at Ryan Lawn & Tree think will be especially great!
The "Golden Driller" statue in Tulsa is waiting for you to visit!

The Tulsa Balloon Festival – June 14-18

As one of the largest free admission events in the state of OK and one of the top ballooning events in the US, the Tulsa Balloon Festival offers spectacular balloon glows and daily flights (cost involved). The event itself offers a state-fair sized carnival, food, music, art exhibits, sales, live entertainment, and shopping tents. The event location is at 41st and 129th East Avenues.

Matilda the Musical – June 20-25

Presented at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, this family-favorite musical is winner of more than 70 international awards including best musical. Appropriate for all ages, the musical presents an inspirational story focused on the vivid imagination and keen mind of Matilda. Many Ryan Lawn & Tree’s employees – along with their kids – love this play! We recommend it!

The 5th Annual Center Polo Classic – June 23-24

Held at the Polo Fields at Mohawk Park, the Center Polo Classic is a family-favorite and is appropriate for all ages. The classic itself is a fundraising event for The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges. The event is centered around the ‘Sport of Kings’, and the fast-paced action of thoroughbred horses with riders competing in a hearty game of polo. Food, entertainment, and shopping opportunities are available during the event. Of course, we at Ryan Lawn & Tree go to this event to check out the turf! Maybe they need a little extra help next year, making their turf as spectacular as the event itself?

Independence Day Fireworks – July 4

Attracting an estimated 80,000 spectators who congregate along Veterans Park, River West Festival Park, and along the Arkansas River, the fireworks spectacular is part of Tulsa’s Folds of Honor Freedom Fest. The show begins at sundown, and it is recommended that you arrive early to secure parking and a great place to view the fireworks.

Folds of Honor Freedom Fest – July 4

Featuring live entertainment, food, beverages, and a Kids Zone with inflatable play stations, activities begin at 5pm on July 4th at Veteran’s Park (1875 South Boulder Avenue) and at River West Festival park (2100 South Jackson Avenue). The inflatables are free, so kids, get jumping!
