Pest Management Redefined

With Integrated Pest Management, you'll receive monthly inspections from your RYAN Pro to help prevent pests and disease from running rampant in your landscape.

What is Integrated Pest Management?

Integrated Pest Management is Ryan Lawn & Tree’s new way of closely monitoring your property and addressing pest and disease issues before they get past your “action thresholds”. This program is perfect for three types of homewoners:

✔ Proactive homeowners seeking a customized program for the landscape.

✔ Families or individuals who are concerned about the regular use of synthetic chemicals around their properties, children, or pets.

✔ Eco-conscious consumers that are wanting to maintain the balance between a beautiful and liveable outdoor space while minimizing their ecological impact.

What Are "Action Thresholds"?

First, before any IPM program begins, a RYAN Pro will meet with you one-on-one to establish your goals and determine the points at which a given landscape issue becomes severe enough that an intervention needs to take place. These points are called ‘action thresholds’ and vary homeowner to homeowner.

For example, you may be someone who wants to avoid spraying chemicals when at all possible, but you also want your plant material to be consistently pest-free and healthy. In that case, you would have a different action threshold than someone who doesn’t mind the occasional pest activity, as long as those “pests” are actually something pleasant like butterfly larvae.

What Does An Inspection Look Like?

Every month, April – September, a RYAN Pro will visit your property and perform a high level look over of all the landscaping and plant material. Each inspection will produce one of three follow-up measures:

• If an inspection doesn’t find any insects or diseases, you’ll receive a simple post-inspection note and invoice letting you know the results came back negative.

If we do find insects or diseases but within the clients action threshold, we will document their presence, provide a photo of the issue, and notify the client.

• If pest or disease activity meets or surpass the clients action thresholds, we will address the pest issue appropriately.

IPM: Challenges & Solutions

We encounter numerous pests and diseases regularly, some of which are particularly aggressive or demand specific preventive measures. In such cases, an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program proves ineffective or unsuitable.

Additionally, IPM prioritizes controlling manageable aspects within a landscape. Elaborate landscapes or those involving frequent planting of large quantities of annual or new plants present challenges where IPM control is impractical.

Moreover, certain infestations may necessitate interventions beyond the scope of a typical visit, possibly requiring referral to another department within Ryan Lawn and Tree, along with their respective pricing structures.

IPM Program Pricing Structure

The pricing for our Integrated Pest Management includes, 1) A trip charge for each inspection, 2) A documentation fee for insect activity below the action threshold, 3) And on visits when the action threshold is exceeded and an application must be provided, there will be an additional one-time charge. These one-time fees vary by property size, but are a fixed rate established upfront with the homeowner.

Should an insect be documented, the customer will receive a photograph when possible of the identified pest, as well as any interim monitoring steps, pest specific information, suggestions, or home remedies a client can use should they decide to intervene themselves before our next visit.
