The Springfield, Missouri area is a great place to be anytime of year – but the summer offers Springfield residents and visitors an array of family-friendly events that promise to keep adults and kids smiling all summer long. Here are some activities that we at Ryan Lawn & Tree think will be especially great!
Central Bank's tall building overlooks Springfield and all the events happening below!

Sertoma Duck Race Festival – June 23-24

Held each year in Ozark, this 2-day event features kid’s rides, a huge rubber duck race, live music, great food and drink, hot air balloon rides, a car show, craft booths, and a huge fireworks show at the conclusion of the second day. There is a $5 admission – but also, more than $40,000 in prizes are awarded from the duck race.

Friends of the Garden Butterfly Festival – June 24

Sponsored by Friends of the Garden and held at the Butterfly House at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park (2400 South Scenic Avenue), this family-focused event features a caterpillar petting zoo, face painting, balloon art, games and of course, a tour of the butterfly house with a butterfly-expert docent. The festival runs 9am-3pm.

Capital City Celebration – July 1

The Capital City’s Independence Day celebration gets an early start this year at 11am, kicking off with live music, games, and shopping in the area of 5th and Capital. The festivities will run throughout the day, with fireworks scheduled to begin at dusk on July 1st.

81st Annual Christian County Fair – July 7-8

Held at 907 Riverside Road along the Finley River, the fair is free to the public. The fair features a full-scale carnival, livestock shows, and free live entertainment all around the grounds.
