Holiday Lights on Farmstead Lane – Now through January 7 (5-11 p.m.) at the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead

Coming back for the fifth year in a row, the 38-minute lights and sounds show (which includes animation) syncs the 90.5 Rose FM radio station to the dancing lights of the show. Fun for two, or the whole family!

Holiday Luminary Walk – December 1-2 and 8-9 (5-9 p.m., Friday/Saturday) at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens

Enjoy the seasonal fundraiser as you walk a mile-long candlelit path, taking in the holiday lights and the sounds of live entertainment. Or sip some hot cider as you bundle up in a warm, horse-drawn wagon ride. The kids will love the visit to the Gnome and Fairy Villages, before giving Santa their wish lists (5:30-8:30). Then you can settle in near the warm campfire and enjoy the feeling of the season. Indoor Farmers’ Market – December 2 (8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday) at the Matt Ross Community Center

Take it indoors with the 35th Anniversary of the Overland Park Farmers’ Market season! Keep your eating, buying, and shopping local during the holidays, and enjoy the winter produce and holiday gifts!

Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear – December 2 (8 p.m., Saturday) at the Johnson County Community College, Yardley Hall

This mother/son duo will rock you! The two use their booming voices and twin guitars to play a soulful folk music that will get your toes tapping. Tickets range from $17-$35.

Special Swim – December 3 (9-10 a.m., Sunday) at the Matt Ross Community Center

Get a chance to swim with other families and people with disabilities with the Special Swim! Have the pool to yourselves before the pool opens to the public. (Lifeguards on duty, admission is $7/person.

Children’s Corner with Stone Lion Puppet Theatre – December 6 (10 a.m., Wednesday) at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center

American Youth Ballet presents “The Nutcracker” – Dec. 16, 17 (Showtimes at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, 2 and 6 p.m. Sunday, $15-$23)
